That Rainy Day Feeling Again….

I do not know what it is about these rainy days that make me so lethargic and completely devoid of motivation.  I had an entire mental list of things that had to get done today.   The poor list never stood a chance.  It is on days like these that I am grateful that I do not work outside of the home because the only cure for this mood is a great book and a couch.

Most phone calls went unanswered until later in the morning when my Dad called and as he does almost daily, and he began to serenade me.  Usually it is his sketchy rendition of John Denver’s “City of New Orleans”  chorus and goes like this..”Good Mornin’ America, how are ya? Don’t you know me I’m your Daddy…..”  I know it’s silly and he probably doesn’t know it but I adore him for singing it to me.  Well, this morning, due to the weather, he sang “Rainy Night In Georgia”.  That phone call gave me enough energy to get up and get done what needed to be done before the kids all came home from school.

Then the doldrums set in again.  It wasn’t until later that the phone rang and it was my little sister who clearly was not affected by the weather as she perused the isles of Wal-Mart on the hunt for Easter basket necessities.  We chatted and giggled and that was enough for another hour of energy boost.

So, today, I am grateful for my Dad and sister who sang and chatted me back into reality and didn’t even know I needed it so desperately.  Here are those songs in case you have no idea what I am talking about.

I hope it is sunny where you are and if not I hope you too have some rainy day angels!
