Even the rain didn’t deter the marching Jayhawks when they were invited, along with a handful of other area middle schools, to join the Marist marching band for the half-time performance on Friday, September 23rd.
Band director, Jack Kinsella, walked among the lines of 6th, 7th and 8th grade children, adjusting their stance and giving pointers in the Marist gym prior to their performance.
The only visiting school to attend dressed in full marching regalia, the Jerling Jr. High kids stole the show with their playing, poise and theatrics as they incorporated humor and dance into their music.
Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Pitbull’s I Know You Want Me, and Flo Rida’s Right Round were the non-traditional selections for the evening that got the rain-pelted crowd to their feet for the spectacular performance.
Thanks to Marist for hosting our kids and making us all feel welcome.
Great job marching Jayhawks, you make Orland Park proud!
